The LSI N-MYC FISH kit is intended for the determination of N-MYC gene amplification in human tissues using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
The LSI N-MYC FISH kit contains a directly labeled fluorescent DNA probe in hybridization buffer. The fluorochrome Orange labeled N-MYC probe covers the chromosome 2p24.1 region.
The N-MYC (human homolog of v-MYC gene isolated from the avian myelocytomatosis virus, neuroblastoma derived) gene belongs to the MYC family of transcription factors and plays a role in the regulation of cell growth and proliferation. Amplification of this gene is associated with a variety of tumors, most frequently neuroblastomas. N-MYC amplification is an important unfavorable prognostic factor of this disease.
A normal cell hybridized with the LSI N-MYC (Orange) (1A). The cell in this image shows 2 orange signals. An abnormal cell (1B) shows more than 20 orange signals which indicate the N-MYC gene amplification.
